Annie and Jack will remain in a perpetual detention unless they learn how to get along.

In the teaser, it is 1974, with students at Hope Springs High School putting objects in a time capsule, with the principal announcing that the time capsule will be opened in 2000, and he closes the capsule. Then, in the dark, someone walks in and puts two boxes in the box, as Annie asks the questions "Why has no one ever tried to put time in a time capsule?" and the box glows.

Now it the year 2000, and at Hope Springs High School, Molly is at her high school reunion with Annie, Jack, and Carey. The principal, yes he is the same one!, is announcing names for people to come get their belongings. He calls Molly's name, but she says that she didn't put anything in the capsule. She gets it and it is a black box, with a watch inside. Annie says that it could be, like, an antique, but Molly says it's, like, just ugly. Then, someone behind Molly says, as if over a loudspeaker "Would Ms. McQuinn and Mr. Anderson please report to detention, immediately!" Molly turns around and see Steve Anderson, a person she always used to go to detention with.
